Hi! I am a newbie from Kansas with three boys, ages 7, 5 and 8 months! The older boys are crazy with energy- and I am so depressed to watch the 8 month old looking like he is going to follow in big brother's footsteps! My guys are so fun- I love them. But, come on- do any of the rest of you out there wonder how you will ever have the energy to keep up with them as they grow older and busier? Yes, like most of you, I mourn the loss of the little- quiet- girl I will never have. Also, everyone keeps telling me that I can go for number 4- surely that one would be my girl. But really- having another baby just to go for a girl at this point would be crazy! For me, four boys would put me over the edge! It is so great to have a place to share my experiences with my boys with people who will understand - and not try to convince me my girl is just 9 months away!!!

......sweetie, I've been right where you are. I've raised three boys and I'm still here, Laughing , 30, 27, and 25. Yes, they have a lot of engery. The best course of action is to let things go, laundry, house, etc. Just enjoy them. Sit in the middle of the floor and play. If you can, have someone come in or take the younger ones to a Mother's Morning out. Give yourself a day a week for yourself. This is going to sound SOOOOOOO lame, but the time flies by and then they are grown. If you get really stressed, give the two older ones a non-toxic marker and let them draw tattoos on the baby!!!! It keeps them busy for a long time. Laughing Hang in there!!! Oh, and don't count on a girl being quite!!!

This reminder is very helpful!

When people say something about hoping that this baby will be a girl (it's not), I tell them that I really can't imagine that the two children I have (both boys) could be any more different if one of them were a girl. It's really challenging a lot of gender assumptions that I didn't even know I had.

When I get a little sad thinking that I won't have a daughter, and imagine some special mother-daughter connection that I'll miss out on, I remind myself of all the estranged mother-daughters I know. There are no guarantees.

PS - I LOVE the idea of tattooing the baby!

Hi and welcome!! I, too, am a mom of 3 boys. We are expecting our 4th boy in just a few short months (if not sooner, but not too much). I'm super excited to be adding another boy to the chaos that's already here. They are bunches of fun!! I couldn't imagine things being any different.
Hope to see you around!!
