does anyone know how to get information on baseball and AAU basketball? I heard that North Raleigh is the place to play baseball. My 12 year old son would love to find an AAU travel basketball team. We would also love information on baseball for now and spring.

Hi Debbie,

My seventh grade son also loves basketball and baseball. He played on the Carolina Senators AAU baseball team this fall and plans to do so in the spring, too. He played some on the Garner Road basketball team in the spring, but we had to quit that due to so many teams practiced at their gym that we had too few practices or found out about the practices an hour before practice time -- not conducive to our schedules at all, since Garner is about a 30 minute drive from Cary.
There are some other local AAU teams; on Tuesdays in the News & Observer, there is a listing of teams looking for players, under the heading Play!
They have all types of teams listed there. So that's probably your best bet.
Also, Networks basketball has lots of skills clinics, etc. year-round.
I think the Senators website is carolinasenators.com - Even teams from Cary wind up playing lots of tournaments in Wake Forest (N. Raleigh); Fuquay and Southern Wake county are also really big into baseball. I think North Raleigh has a league, too.

Good luck! Hope to see you!
Sharon
